Homeschool Support & Evaluations
Florida's parent-directed home education gives families the freedom to design their child's learning. We help you do it with confidence and compliance.
Understanding Florida Home Education
A parent-directed process, in plain language
You direct the education
In a home education program, the parent or guardian assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining the program, choosing curriculum, keeping records, and meeting annual evaluation requirements.
Notify your district in writing
You must send a written notice of intent to your school district's home education office. The official Miami-Dade form (FM-4705) is optional, but the required written notification is not.
Keep a portfolio
Maintain a portfolio of your student's work, a log of educational activities, and records of progress throughout the year.
Complete an annual evaluation
Each year, your student must complete an evaluation — such as a certified teacher's review of the portfolio — which you submit to the district.
Important: Parents remain responsible for establishing and maintaining their home education program, keeping required records, and meeting annual evaluation requirements. We provide guidance and support — the program itself is parent-directed.
